Importance of Homework Essay Example for Free

Importance of Homework Essay Homework, as I understand, is a practice and review of lessons learned as part of your studies, not an instrument that forces students to relearn an entire lesson,” comments Dr. George Roberts, a renowned psychiatrist and professor at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Roberts does not believe in assigning students enormous amounts of homework because he considers it unnecessary and a waste of time. However, not all school boards concur with Dr. Roberts, since they perceive homework as an essential part of education and learning. Most people will agree that homework is an essential part of education, but the question is, how much homework should be assigned on a daily basis? Everyone may have different opinions on how much homework should be assigned, but here is my stance on the situation. I believe that the homework load that teachers can assign should be limited so that students will not accumulate too much stress, get enough sleep, and have more free time to enjoy their hobbies and spend with their family and friends. First of all, extremely exorbitant amounts of homework have been causing stress in many teenagers. What comes to mind when you think about stress? Competitions, performances, or homework? Amazingly, homework is one of the top stress providers for students. 13 out of 100 teenage suicides are related to stress buildup at school, specifically from the large amounts of homework. Excess homework has even been proven to cause an increased maturing rate of hair, also known as the graying of hair. I’ve had my own experiences of stress caused by homework, and they weren’t too pleasant.

Buffalo Soldier-Dreadlock Rasta? :: essays papers

Buffalo Soldier-Dreadlock Rasta? The Buffalo Soldier of the West and the Elimination of the Native American Race When black men first enlisted in the United States army, they were thought to be crazy. These were the men, who just a few years before, were being persecuted because of the color of their skin. Throughout time, the black man has suffered in more ways than we could imagine. The white man stole them from their homeland only for the sole purpose of making money. They were thought to be hard workers and very loyal. However, after the Civil War and the emancipation of slavery, there became some perceptions of the black man that had never been seen or heard before. Even though they were still thought to be inferior, they still gained some respect on the part of the white community. In 1864, the President of the United States, Mr. Abraham Lincoln wrote a statement concerning the black troops enlisted in the U.S army. With the sympathy of the president, this is what was written: The black soldiers in the Civil war had so heroically vindicated their manhood on the battlefield where, in assisting to save the life of the republic, they have demonstrated in blood their right to the ballot†¦." (Cashin and others 1969 p.i) This message was the forthcoming of a new perception of the black man. With the help of President Lincoln, the black man felt that they were on their way to freedom and equality. However, after the assassination of the "Great Emancipator" the black man’s hopes and dreams seemed to fade faster than they were built up. With the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, President Lincoln had given the black man one of America’s highest standards for being considered free. He gave them the right to vote. However, since the assassination, the southern black man could not vote because of the stipulations that the white southerners put on the voting system. Therefore, the black man could only hold on to the last shred of freedom that he was given the right to have. Because of their gallant efforts put forth in the Civil War, the black man was still allowed to serve in the United States army. In 1866 a bill was passed by Congress to allow the formation of an all black regiment. In all there would be several different regiments comprised of only black soldiers. The regiments were formed by the black enlistees and usually the duties were carried out by a white officer.

Variants of coffee flavors were already produced all throughout the world aiming for the discovery of alternative sources of coffee production . The coffee from ampalaya seeds help us to earn and save money . A. Background of the study Coffee alternatives have been famous since the last two decades due to economic crisis and experimentations for health and medical benefits. Any seeds that are edible when powdered can be used as an alternative source for coffee. The difference of the generic coffee from the seeds of the coffee plant from those of the alternatives is that it has a good amount of caffeine content. The similarity you can find in the alternatives and those of the original is that seeds contain carbohydrates which cause the aroma in roasted coffee. Ampalaya, on the other hand, is a crawling vine that grows mostly on tropical countries like the Philippines. It is said to be rich in iron, potassium, beta-carotene and other nutrients. It is also famous in treating diabetes because of its properties like polypeptide-P; a plant insulin that can lower blood sugar levels. Many researches on agricultural food chemistry convey that it provides nutritionally significant amounts of nutrients, minerals and amino acids that are needed for life. B. Objectives of the study B1. General Objectives 1. To determine if the ampalaya seeds have considerable characteristics of the products in terms of color, aroma, taste, and acidity. B2. The study was important because ampalaya is abundant in the Philippines. The product may be an anti-diabetes coffee but it is not the main concern of the study. Everybody can benefit of the result of the study unless a coffee drinker. It would recycle the ampalaya seeds instead of being thrown away which a lot of people consider it as waste. E. Scope and limitation The proposed study was limited to producing coffee out of ampalaya (Momordica charantia Linn. ) seeds. Three samples were prepared with different ampalaya seed concentration and same amount of water for comparison purposes in which one of the samples was pure commercial coffee. The samples were processed by the basic methods of making coffee: roasting, grinding, and brewing.

What Will Students Be Like In 100 Years

In contrast to 100 years ago the students in the 21st century are quite different from those in the past century from the manner of education to the dressing habits. Therefore students 100 years from now will be highly educated with most students having received university education. The offer of such things as scholarship will be nonexistent with the list fortunate students as well receive free education if they are willing to attend the classes and they will as well receive free meals and boarding in the learning institutions. As a matter of fact this will be due to technological need for improvements rather than the personal drive for knowledge. Medical checkups will be free of offer to each student as reading glasses will be offered without any cost and students with learning disability won’t be isolated as they will be able to interact easily with other students. In 100 years medical technology will have advanced highly and the best care will be provided to all students. Additionally students who aren’t well off and don’t have transport to school in 100 years that won’t be an issue as the poor students will receive transportation to and from schools be it on hovercrafts or flying buses in addition to free meals. There will be no more late to class excuses or missed my SATs due to traffic jams. During holidays all students will receive equal opportunity as the unfortunate students will as well receive opportunity to travel to other countries and experience different cultures since movement of people will be very easy. Moreover look at 50 years ago students didn’t have cell phones, tablets or laptops give 100 years to come such gadgets will be things of the past as students will teleport from one class to another use 3D projects for educational purpose and as well have sleeping pods within the institution. Students as well won’t be constricted to their own country as education will be global since movement of people will be at the speed of light students will be able to have a morning class in Spain for Spanish and a science class in Japan mid-day. Crazy as it sounds, believe me if 100 years ago you would talk of the internet, you would be crazy too. Schools in the next 100 years huge touch screens will fill the walls of schools enabling students to be able to share information easily and check on information as well such as upcoming events or where their next class is be it in another continent. Learning institutions in 100 years will be revolutionized as schools will provide students the opportunity to pick their meals as all meals will be created using a 3D printer it will as well be personalized to the students taste. In completing their degrees students 100 years from now will be offered job placements by the learning institutions without any struggle or wastage of time. This is actually turning things differently and I keep wishing to myself I would be around in those next 100 years as a student. However, students in some other instance may not have to attend a class as learning will be done using podcasts or students will come together to share information as assignment will be sent personally to each student and they will receive it instantly.  Students will as well learn through selected challenge based on interest plus what principles and badges they are working to.   This will give them hands on experience instead of reading about what they are learning hours on end in a classroom. Furthermore it is through hands on experience that this learning takes place.
